PARADISE VALLEY RESIDENCE
The home before the remodel was truly a 1996 gem. It was a sea of beige that was desperately in need of an update with some contrast & interest. The design inspiration from the clients was "Coastal with a modern flare" they wanted a clean palette and lots of storage for games and their movie collection, with that in mind, we incorporated extra seating on top of the storage cabinet in a warm grey leather. The storage and seating flanks the newly cladded fireplace to create symmetry. All the materials used are in the same color family which makes the transition into each space seamless. There were major structural needs in order to open up the space. To open it up, we connected the formal dining room to the living room, a massive structural beam had to be placed in the opening created to support the second story. The multi tier fireplace surround was smoothed out, and the mantle was raised up in order to fit the scale and height of the room.
A warm grey color palette with black accents were used. Natural wood, stone & tile were merged with sleek glass & metal, and all the materials used are in the same color family which makes the transition into each space seamless. The new living room space was transformed from a separate formal sitting room to a place where the family can gather everyday and entertain guests. The formal dining room was opened up and connected to the living room and kitchen area to create an open floor plan.
